I'm working on a project and need to show the benefits vs. the drawbacks and what happens when we fix one benefit what happens to the overall system. The problem is that fixing one may either create more problems or reduce them. I think most people tend to focus on one or two issues but never "see" the big picture. This is causing a blurry vision of the problems as a whole.

So I'm thinking of showing red vs. green and letting users "fix" a decision by clicking through to see the results. There should eventually be either a lot of green on the screen or a lot of red as they narrow down the issues. This should help the powers that be to see what is really going on and make a fairly educated decision rather then scanning a bullet list.

I also want to incorporate small multiples (Tufte) to show several of the scenarios side by side. Again, showing red vs. green from a high level. More to come...
